ABOUT THE BOOK and AUTHOR:

Malcolm Jenkins is an entrepreneur, media personality, executive producer, writer, racial justice advocate, and philanthropist. Jenkins established himself as one of the NFL’s all-time great defensive leaders, winning Super Bowl championships in New Orleans and Philadelphia as well as three Pro Bowl honors during his stellar thirteen-year NFL career.

In WHAT WINNERS WON’T TELL YOU, two-time Super Bowl champion, three-time Pro-Bowler, first-round draft pick, and former Jim Thorpe Award recipient Malcolm Jenkins looks back on his renowned thirteen-year NFL career and his life beyond football.

Jenkins knows a thing or two about winning. Over the course of his thirteen-year NFL career, the now-retired defensive back’s triumphs extend beyond those on the football field. As a successful entrepreneur, he has seen the blossoming of his business ventures with an eponymous company named Malcolm Inc., and a media conglomerate named Listen Up Media. As a philanthropist, he strives to make a positive difference in the lives of young people in underserved communities through The Malcolm Jenkins Foundation. And as the father of two daughters, he understands the challenges of loving his children, and preparing them for an often unkind and hostile world. But for every triumph, there is a tragedy, for every loss, a lesson.

About the Event: At each program, the author and guest moderator speak for about 45 minutes, followed by a short question and answer session. Following the program, the featured author will be available for a limited book signing/photo opportunity. Restrictions are subject to the author, their management, or event circumstances. A copy of the book is included with each ticket purchased.

Toledo native James Starks will be the moderator for this conversation. James Starks was born and raised right here in Toledo. He’s a 2004 graduate of St. Francis de Sales. He then went on to graduate from Capital University in Columbus and holds a Masters in Broadcast Journalism from Kent State University. While in college, James was a member of the football team, where he excelled as a two-time All-American at defensive back. In 2008, he signed a free-agent contract with the Cincinnati Bengals. After an unfortunate injury, he continued to play football overseas in Italy. In 2021, James was inducted into the Capital University Athletics Hall of Fame.

James’ passion for journalism started at a young age, watching ESPN’s Sports Center with Stuart Scott. It’s no wonder he started his career as a sports anchor before moving to the early hours of morning news. As a sports anchor, he’s covered events like NCAA bowl games, NBA playoffs, and the NFL Draft just to name a few. He’s incredibly excited to return to his hometown. He’s passionate about being actively involved in the community through volunteer work. In his spare time, he likes to hit the gym, cheer on Manchester United, and spend time with his family.
