What does real "self-care" consist of? Learn strategies based on psychological research to prevent burnout, learn your limits, and set healthy boundaries.
Burnout is a negative psychological outcome that can come from chronic stress in the workplace. Symptoms of burnout include feeling emotionally exhausted, difficulty caring about the work you do, and a sense that you’re not doing a good job. While “self-care” has become a popular term in recent years, not everyone has equal access to self-care strategies and many find them inadequate in the face of long-term burnout.
Dr. Tompsett will briefly review psychological research on burnout and chronic stress, including how different workplace challenges can impair well-being. Through the use of a self-inventory and guided discussion, Dr. Tompsett will help attendees reflect on steps they can take to better take care of themselves and prevent long-term burnout.
This event is part of Better Toledo, a personal and professional development series to ensure “you will do better in Toledo." Certificates of completion are available to participants who take part in three or more sessions in 2022. For group registrations please call 419-259-5293.
