Your little ones can perform a well-check with teddy bears! Hear stories and practice on the provided teddies, or bring a favorite plushie of your own, to model a friendly doctor's visit.
This interactive program is designed to promote early literacy and health education for young children in a fun and approachable way. UT students will read stories centered on themes like wellness, visiting the doctor, and taking care of our bodies. Children will then be invited to participate in a hands-on teddy bear well-check.This engaging activity helps normalize medical check-ups, ease anxiety around healthcare settings, and introduce healthy habits through play.
Project Sunshine is a student-led organization dedicated to bringing joy and support to children facing medical challenges and their families through free educational, recreational, and social programming. Also in partnership with Reach Out and Read Northwest Ohio, a literacy-based initiative that works with healthcare providers to incorporate reading aloud into routine pediatric care, emphasizing the importance of early literacy as part of a child’s healthy development.
