This session will provide foundational insight into Critical Race Theory (CRT) as well debunk the myths and controversy often associated with CRT. Attendees will learn how to apply its analysis into organizational and community social justice work.
This event is presented by The Ronald Group President and Lead Strategist, Dr. Patrice McClellan and sponsored by the City of Toledo Human Relations Commission. It is part of Better Toledo, a personal and professional development series to ensure “you will do better in Toledo.” Certificates of completion are available to participants who take part in three or more sessions in 2023.

Dr. Patrice McClellan is the President and Lead Strategist, affectionately known as Dr. P. She is a nationally recognized leadership expert and often referred to as THE LEADERSHIP COACH. With over 20 years of experience grooming leaders and helping organizations thrive, Dr. P has been preparing leaders in various sectors of higher education, banking, and non-profit organizations. In addition, Dr. P is a published author on leadership activism and a community advocate. She is most proud of her role with the United Way of Greater Toledo’s African American Leadership Council and her fundraising activity for the Children Defense Fund’s Freedom School housed at the Monroe Street Neighborhood Center.
The Human Relations Commission (HRC) endeavors to support a safe, energetic, and livable city. The Commission support residents working to overcome prejudice and build mutual respect. HRC provides free mediation services as well as resources and programs through its four (4) committees: Community & Neighborhoods, Stop the Violence, Social Justice and Youth Empowerment & Engagement which are led by mayoral appointed residents representing a broad range of community perspectives.
