Local Artist, Abstract Painter
Amy Renee has painted and drawn from a very early age. She received her first paints and easel when she was six and began experimenting with many mediums, including pencil, charcoal, pastels, and ink soon after.
In high school she was given a project to paint any subject, as long as it wasn't abstract. Struggling with different ideas, she became frustrated, and threw her canvas down on the basement floor. She grabbed one of her stepfather's carpenter paintbrushes, and started flinging paint on the canvas. The freedom she felt was overwhelming, and she continued to add paint, using her intuition and doing whatever "felt" right. She ended up with an abstract painting that she was very pleased with.
Amy received a D on that project, and has been painting abstract images ever since.
