Panelists:

Dr. Nancy Down is Head of the Browne Popular Culture Library at Bowling Green State University. She has worked at BGSU Libraries for 30 years and previously was the Popular Culture Reference Librarian and Cataloger. She holds a Master of Library Science from Indiana University and a Ph.D. in English Literature from Drew University. Dr. Down has given presentations on numerous popular culture topics including fanzines, fandom collections, three dimensional objects in archives and gender and popular culture collections. She is a fan of mystery novels and detective television shows.

Jennifer Fisher is a Nancy Drew consultant and author. Her book, Clues for Real Life: The Classic Wit & Wisdom of Nancy Drew was published in 2007 and she is currently writing a biography on Mildred Wirt Benson, the first Carolyn Keene to write the Nancy Drew series, who was a real life Nancy Drew. Fisher is President of the Nancy Drew fan group, The Nancy Drew Sleuths, and plans their annual conventions and handles the officially licensed Nancy Drew merchandising lines. Fisher recently donated her entire Nancy Drew collection to the Toledo Lucas County Public Library located in the children's section of the downtown Main Library in The Mystery Room. Julie K. Rubini loves writing stories about incredible women and intriguing subjects for young readers. Julie’s newest work is Psychology: Why We Smile, Strive and Sing, helping teenagers understand the science behind their behavior. Julie’s other works include, Eye to Eye: Sports Journalist Christine Brennan, Missing Millie Benson: The Secret Case of the Nancy Drew Ghostwriter and Journalist, and Virginia Hamilton: America’s Storyteller, which received a Kirkus starred review and listed on Bank Street College of Education’s Best Children’s Books, outstanding merit. Julie and her husband Brad established Claire’s Day, a children’s book festival in honor of their daughter. A highlight of the festival is the C.A.R.E.
