Syliva Kallay grew up in rural Eastern Ohio near her grandparents who emigrated from Poland and filled her imagination with stories of their lives farming in the "Old Country". Later as an adult she taught both in public and Catholic schools where she began painting religious art. Her work has been commissioned by churches in West Virginia and Ohio; a school in Los Angeles; and several private individuals. She has exhibited in Iowa, West Virginia, and Ohio. She was published in "E&A Environmental & Art Letter" magazine. She was featured artist at the "West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival" in Clarksburg, West Virginia in 1996. Sylvia designed an album cover for the Italian music group "Amici".
