Intro to Slicing 3D Models
Thursday, December 12
6:30pm - 7:30pm
Main Library
Meeting Room 2 (Minimum 15 Attendees, Capacity 48), 1st FloorBefore your 3D model can be printed it needs to be “Sliced” and prepared for the printer. In this session we will look at the Cura Slicer software and the tools it provides for preparing 3D models.
Cura by Ulitmaker is a free software available to download from the manufacture. Many other company’s slicing softwares have been based of this design and depending on the type of 3D printer you intend to use, there are features that are now universal. We will explore how different minor changes can create big differences in results. When the library Making department receives 3D print requests, they process them with this software and you can follow along with the steps it takes to print these items. You’ll gain a greater understanding of all the factors that go into determining what is necessary to print any given item.
