Capoeira is a unique, holistic Afro-Brazilian art form that combines martial arts, movement, music, and popular culture. Join us to learn more about this fascinating and fun practice!
In capoeira classes, we will explore music and movement guided by Mestre Lobinho. Now the leader and founder of the Brazilian Michigan Cultural Center, Lobinho began his capoeira training in Sao Paulo, Brazil nearly 25 years ago.
Capoeira is inclusive and adapts to the different needs of people. Over time, attendees will discover how with capoeira we can transcend the limits sometimes imposed on our minds and bodies. Capoeira is a healthy physical practice with the added benefits of introducing practitioners to a rich and diverse cultural experience.
This class will offer the opportunity to explore all the different parts of capoeira. Attendees will learn both the music, the movement, and the connection between the two.
No previous experience is required. Attendees should wear comfortable clothes to move in and sneakers (socks alone are not recommended).
